SUMMARY:The Muhlenberg Lenten Reflections\, Calvary St Georges Episcopal Church\, New York City
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nLet’s dive into Christian education this Lent with The Muhlenberg Lenten Reflections featuring The Reverend Magnus Persson\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nABOUT THE LECTURES \nEach Lent\, The Parish of Calvary St. George’s presents ”The Muhlenberg Lenten Reflections.” This multi day event features lectures by acclaimed theologians\, continuing the vision of William Augustus Muhlenberg\, a 19th century clergyman and educator. \nAs the rector of Holy Communion Church here in New York City\, he was a pioneer in the liturgical movement of the Episcopal Church in the mid 1800’s\, and was the first Episcopal priest to hold weekly Eucharist. He considered himself ’evangelical and catholic\,’ being devoted to Christ\, the Scriptures\, and to the shared faith of the historic universal church. \n\n\nABOUT THE REVEREND MAGNUS PERSSON \nThe Reverend Magnus Persson is a Lutheran priest in the Church of Sweden. Prior to that\, he was a Pentecostal Pastor and charismatic church planter in Sweden. A gifted communicator\, Magnus is a well known preacher and church leader globally\, who now has a passion for sharing the Gospel that is found in the scriptures and rediscovered during the reformation: that a person is saved by grace alone through faith alone\, in Christ alone. \nMagnus is based in Malmo Sweden and serves nationally in the EFS\, a renewal and missions movement inside the Church of Sweden. The Church of Sweden is the largest Lutheran body in Europe and third largest in the world and is a member of the Porvoo Declaration\, which includes the Anglican Communion in that fellowship. \nMagnus has a wonderful wife Gunilla and three children and one grandchild: Johanna who lives in Minneapolis (US) together with her American husband Steven and their son Bjorn\, Caroline lives in Malmo together with her husband Alexander and they’re expecting their first child this summer. Philip is the youngest of the three and is still in school. The whole family loves New York City and usually spends a couple of weeks in the city every year. \nIt is a tremendous gift to have Magnus be our Muhlenberg lecturer this year. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
